  1. Patricia just say it! You felt awkward because your where the only black
person. I worked for merrill lynch for four years in America. when you are
young and black your going to feel awkward because everyone in the company
is OLD AND WHITE or simply WHITE lol.

  2. As an engineering student, I can relate so much to your internship story.
I’m the only intern in my group currently. I really need to come out of my
shell. Thank you you’re giving me so much hope right now. <3

  3. you’re so inspirational Pat. i just dont feel like i get the same level of
support and/or opportunity living in the south in the US. one day i hope
i’ll move and get to use my degree to that level of intensity

  4. Patricia.. This video has inspired me so much. I feel much better about
going to uni this September and becoming a brown (Asian) female engineer.
Thank you! Exactly what I needed

  5. Thats the starting salary a few years ago. It’s gone up a bit now so about
40-50k. Some banks pay more and then a bonus of about 10-20k on top.

  6. LAWWDDDD £35-40k at 21?? The nearest I’ve ever come to that figure is
    writing it! Lol 😂

  7. YES NSBE PLUG!!! THE REASON I HAVE THE CONFIDENCE I HAVE IN MYSELF TODAY AS
    A BLACK FEMALE ENGINEER!

  8. Thanks! I’m so tired of people trying to push the “all lives matter”. That
is not what this is about, it’s a thing that goes way over our heads and
some people just don’t understand that there is a battle to be fought.

  9. I’ve finished my 2nd year at uni studying Journalism & Creative Writing and
I am literally scared to graduate next year. My ultimate dream is to be an
author, but I know that’s hard to break into, so that’s where the
journalism comes in. I thought it would be a good backup, but competition
is high I know it’s going to be difficult to get into journalism. I don’t
want to find myself as a graduate, struggling to get into journalism and
then settling down in an “average” job that I shouldn’t be doing.

  10. You will be fine, keep dreaming and keep pushing. Difference between those
who succeed and those who don’t is effort (with all other things being
equal lol). It took me ages to get into medical school, but along the way I
got a bachelors and masters degree but i’m finally doing what I work so
hard for because I didn’t give up, even though I took small diversions
towards my goals, it worked to my advantage. I’m also into writing as well.
I write health and lifestyle articles for magazines and newspapers, and I
am just starting a blog this year. You just have to put yourself out there
and knock on doors, esp in the field such as journalism. Good luck 🙂

  11. Patricia was working hard dotting those ‘t’s’ and crossing those ‘i’s’ lol.
@13:40But great video and thank you for sharing.

  12. +JJRISIA Thank you! You are so right there. I’m already trying at the
moment to give myself a head start by applying for internships and pitching
articles to newspapers etc but not getting anywhere is getting me down.

Also that’s cool that you blog now and write articles 🙂 I used to blog,
I’m trying to get back into it though.

blogging is a good way to show examples of your work too, that’s the main
    reason why I started.

  14. I am in engineering too, not a student but I did many internships. It might
seem unattainable but you can def do it, and always know that you have
something to bring on the table that someone else doesn’t.
    Best of luck to you

  15. shush Hollie u can ab make even more than that n be whatever u want to be ,
just believe in urself n work towards your dreams

  16. I mean if it was in 2008 that she started her job, it would be about 70K (I
checked the XE historical converter) if it was in 2010 it would be about
50K. But usually, in the banking sector it is 70K starting salary, which is
    probably what she used.
